Nanning BYD begins production at 30ktpa lithium carbonate project

Nanning BYD New Materials Co., Ltd. has commenced production at its 30,000tpa lithium carbonate project located at East New Industrial Town in Nanning.
With a total investment of RMB1.5 billion (USD211 million), the project covers a land area of around 450Mu (30 hectares) and, when fully operational, it is expected to generate an annual output value of RMB5 billion (USD704 million) from the production of lithium carbonate.
The project uses spodumene and amblygonite as the raw materials, which are consumed independently for production, with annual production capacities of 30,000t of battery-grade lithium carbonate, 10,000t of iron phosphate, 120,000t of sodium sulfate and 4,500t of aluminum hydroxide. According to an EIA released earlier, the project consumes spodumene that comes from the Arcadia lithium mine in Zimbabwe.
