Hunan Yuneng signs deal for copper smelter and battery materials project in Guizhou

On July 3, Hunan Yuneng New Energy Battery Material Co., Ltd. signed agreements with Qiannan prefecture government and Fuquan municipal government to build a 500,000tpa copper smelter project and a battery materials project with annual production capacities of 300,000 tonnes of iron phosphate and 300,000 tonnes of high power and long cycle life phosphate cathode materials.
Hunan Yuneng announced an additional investment of 15 billion yuan (2.06 billion US dollars) to build the above-mentioned projects at Shuanglong Industrial Park in Fuquan. Project construction will be completed through multiple phases, including phase one with annual production capacities of 200,000 tonnes of copper, and 800,000 tonnes of sulfuric acid and 800,000 tonnes of steam, for an investment of 3.5 billion yuan (481 million US dollars). The following phases of construction will be subject to phase one progress and market demand.
The copper smelter project fills the gap of copper smelting in Guizhou and the whole project will become the first of its kind in China that integrates phosphorus chemical industry, copper smelting and battery materials.
