China's Jan-Apr cathode and anode materials output rise over 15%

China's lithium battery industry kept an upward momentum during the first four months of 2024, when the total national production of lithium battery exceeded 282GWh, up by 17.5% from the year ago period, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
From January to April, China produced 735,000 tonnes of cathode materials, 535,000 tonnes of anode materials, 4.9 billion square meters of diaphragm, and 320,000 tonnes of electrolyte, all rising by more than 15% from the prior year period.
China's production of lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide reached 171,000 tonnes and 104,000 tonnes respectively in the first four months, with the average prices for battery grade lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide (micro powder) at RMB104,000/t (USD14,339) and RMB98,000/t (USD13,512/t) respectively.
