Baotou Jinmeng to build 5ktpa rare earth metals project

Baotou Jinmeng Magnetic Materials Co., Ltd. has received approval from the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Inner Mongolia to develop a 5,000tpa rare earth metals project.
The company plans to build a new production line within its existing plant at Baotou National Rare Earth High and New Technology Industrial Development Zone. The proposed production line will use rare earth oxides and rare earth fluorides as the raw materials and adopt the fluoride-oxide system for electrolytic preparation of rare earth metals, which are mainly PrNd metals, cerium metal and lanthanum metal, with a total production capacity of 5,000 tonnes per annum.
With the total investment estimated at RMB63.6 million (USD8.79 million), the project is expected to have a construction period of 12 months.
