BEIJING (Asian Metal) 26 Apr 24 – Most South African chrome ore sellers keep prices firm in the past week. The current mainstream prices of South African chrome concentrate 40%min stand at USD260-280/t CIF China in container, stable from early last week
"We quote USD290/t CIF China in container for chrome concentrate 40%min today, while we would like to sell at USD280/t for firm bids, stable from early last week", a trader from South Africa noted. They did not close any deals in the past two weeks and last sold about 3,000t at USD280/t three weeks ago . They have no intention to adjust prices and anticipate that the mainstream prices of South African chrome ore would keep stable in the coming week.
The trader, with a regular monthly trading volume about 5,000t of chrome ore, would sell about 5,000t in April, almost stable from last month. They hold no stocks at the moment.
Another trader in South Africa mentions that they offer USD280/t CIF China in container for chrome concentrate 40%min with no concessions today, while they can accept price as low as USD260/t to regular clients, on par with early last week. "We did not close any deals so far this week and sold about 2,000t at USD280/t early last week", said the trader, who would keep price firm and predict that the mainstream prices of South African chrome ore would keep stable in the week to come.
Based on a regular monthly trading volume about 10,000t of chrome ore, the trader would sell about 10,000t in April, almost identical to last month. They hold no inventories presently.
