BEIJING (Asian Metal) 18 Apr 24 – Most sellers keep prices firm supported by increased prices of raw materials, but most buyers hold back from purchasing due to weak demand. The current mainstream prices of Chinese chrome metal 99%min stand at RMB63,500-65,000/t (USD8,759-8,966/t) EXW D/P, stable from early last week. Considering that most sellers have no intention to adjust prices, insiders predict that the mainstream prices of Chinese chrome metal would keep firm in the coming week.
"We quote RMB65,000/t (USD8,966/t) EXW D/P to end users and RMB64,500/t (USD8,897/t) to traders for chrome metal 99%min today, stable from early last week", a producer in Liaoning noted. They sold about 10t at RMB65,000/t (USD8,966/t) early this week and sold about 20t to a trader at RMB64,500/t (USD8,897/t) late last week. Though most buyers hold back from purchasing, they have no intention to adjust prices as prices for raw materials increased. They predict that the mainstream prices of Chinese chrome metal would keep firm in the coming week.
The producer, with an annual production capacity of 15,000t of chrome metal, would produce about 450t in April, stable from March. They hold no stocks at the moment, unchanged MoM.
Another producer in Liaoning mentions that they offer RMB66,000/t (USD9,103/t) EXW D/P for chrome metal 99%min today, while they refused prices less than RMB64,500/t (USD8,897/t) late last week. "We did not close any deals till now this week, most buyers could purchase chrome metal at lower prices from other suppliers, we last sold about 60t at RMB64,500/t (USD8,897/t) early last week", said the producer, who has no intention to adjust prices supported by increased prices of raw materials. They anticipate that the mainstream prices of Chinese chrome metal would keep firm in the week to come.
On basis of an annual production capacity of 3,600t of chrome metal, the producer plans to produce about 200t in April, on par with last month. They hold no inventories at the moment, stable from late last month.
