BEIJING (Asian Metal) 17 Apr 24 - Seeing the potential for a round of price increase, producers of silicomanganese in China hold a positive attitude towards the market prospect. The current mainstream prices of silicomanganese 65/17 in China jump RMB100/t (USD14/t) to RMB5,800-6,000/t (USD801-829/t) EXW D/P
A producer in Guizhou disclosed that they are looking for opportunities for long-term orders, so they don't actively quote at present. Their target sales price is RMB6,500/t (USD898/t) delivered, similar to RMB6,300/t (USD870/t) EXW D/P with freight excluded. Their latest deal dates back to late March, when they sold 10,000t at RMB5,800/t (USD801/t) EXW D/P . "Back then, the prices were at the bottom, and sellers found it difficult to close any deal," said the producer . As the prices gradually recover these days, the producer now expect a further price increase in the forthcoming days.
With a production capacity of 500,000tpy, the producer plans to produce 18,000t this month, unchanged from the previous month. They now hold no inventory.
Another producer in Guizhou revealed that currently they have no intention to sell at any price below RMB6,300/t (USD870/t) EXW D/P. "We think towards the end of this month, the prices can reach our desired level," said the producer . With the expectation for higher prices, they plan not to actively quote until May. Their latest deal was closed in early April, when they sold around 450t at RMB6,100/t (USD843/t) EXW D/P . The producer thinks that because of the rising manganese ore prices and regular periodic downstream demand, the prices of silicomanganese could go up further into next week.
With a production capacity of 150,000tpy, the producer plans to produce around 2,500t this month, 500t more than the previous month. They now keep no inventory.
. Producers predict that the prices can further rise in the coming days.
