BEIJING (Asian Metal) 16 Apr 24 - Suppliers played dominant roles and lifted prices, so the current Chinese terbium oxide 99.99%min mainstream prices climbed to RMB6,200-6,400/kg (USD857-884/kg) EXW D/P, with an increase of around RMB200/kg (USD27.6/kg) from one week ago. Given that suppliers plan to lift prices further, insiders forecasted that the Chinese terbium oxide 99.99%min mainstream prices still have room to rise in the coming week.
A consumer in North China reveals that his regular terbium oxide 99.99%min suppliers quote about RMB6,500/kg (USD898/kg) EXW D/P for him at present. Based on his experience, he could buy at around RMB6,400/kg (USD884/kg) now, while he could purchase at about RMB6,000/kg (USD829/kg) one week ago. He concluded his latest procurement late last week, when he bought 500kg at around RMB6,400/kg (USD884/kg). "Some of my regular suppliers hold back from selling and even don't offer quotation for me now," said the consumer. Given that producers play dominate roles and continue increasing prices, he predicts that the Chinese terbium oxide 99.99%min mainstream prices would move up by around RMB200/kg (USD27.6/kg) in the coming week.
With an annual consumption capacity of 72t of terbium oxide 99.99%min, the consumer's consumption volume so far in 2024 recorded about 15t, compared with approximately 48t last year. He expects to use around 5.5t this month, without much change MoM. He doesn't hold stock at present, down by 500kg MoM.

According to his experience, he could buy at around RMB6,300/kg (USD870/kg) at present, while he could replenish stocks at about RMB6,100/kg (USD843/kg) one week ago. "I last bought 500kg at around RMB6,100/kg (USD843/kg) early last week," said the consumer, who plans to hold a wait-and-see attitude towards the market in the coming week unless he could get terbium metal orders from end users. His suppliers keep lifting prices, so he foresees further upward prices in the Chinese terbium metal market in the upcoming week.
