Lloyds has exploration rights covering around 348 hectares of iron ore deposit in Maharashtra, India, where 80 percent (about 700 million tonnes) of banded hematite has a lower grade of just 30-35%. Therefore, Lloyds plans to launch the project to further increase ore grade and ensure stable supply of raw material.
Sinosteel MECC will build two 7.5Mtpa dressing production lines which are expected to increase the grade of hematite to 67% and ensure a stable supply of iron concentrate to Lloyds' sintering plant and pellet plant.
