BEIJING (Asian Metal) 12 Mar 24 – Most sellers of South African chrome ore lifted prices due to tight supply in past week. The current mainstream prices of South African chrome concentrate 40%min stand at USD290-295/t CIF China, up by about USD5/t from one week ago
An importer from Guangxi noted that the quotation of South African chrome concentrate 40%min they received stood at USD295/t CIF Qinzhou port with no concession within one week, up by about USD5/t from one week ago. "We purchased about 20,000t of chrome concentrate 40%min at USD295/t CIF Qinzhou port late last week, while we last purchased about 10,000t at USD282/t at the end of January", said the importer, who predicts that the mainstream prices of South African chrome ore would keep firm within this week considering tight supply.
The importer, with a regular monthly trading volume about 30,000t of South African chrome ore, would import about 20,000t in March, up by about 20,000t from February. They hold no inventories at the moment.
"We could purchase South African chrome concentrate 40%min at USD295/t CIF Tianjin port at the moment, up by about USD5/t from one week ago", another importer from Tianjin noted, adding that they prefer to watch the market presently and they last imported about 5,000t at USD283/t CIF Tianjin early in February. Considering that most sellers have intention to insist on prices, they predict that the mainstream prices of South African chrome ore would keep firm within this week.
On basis of a regular monthly trading volume about 10,000t of South African chrome ore, the importer have no intention to import South African chrome ore in March, down by about 5,000t from last month. They hold no inventories presently.
