On January 6, the government of Xiangcheng, a district in China's Hubei province, entered into an agreement with Dongfeng Hongtai Holdings Group Co., Ltd. and Guangdong Jinsheng New Energy Co., Ltd. to jointly build a power battery recycling production line with an annual production of 50,000t of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cathode material. The total investment for the project is RMB2 billion (USD279 million).
The project can realize harmless disposal of spent lithium batteries and cyclic utilization of resources, creating a closed-loop value chain for power battery.
