Hubei Libao's waste lithium battery recycing project begins phase one trial run

On December 13, Hubei Libao New Material Technology Development Co., Ltd. started the trial operation of the phase one of its waste lithium battery recycling project with annual processing capacity of 200,000t of waste batteries.
With a total investment of RMB1.4 billion (USD196 million), the project has two phases and covers a land area of 120Mu (8 hectares). The first phase of the project, with an investment of RMB265 million (USD37.07 million), is able to crush 10,000t of waste batteries and recycle 10,000t of battery powder through wet process annually, and mainly produces battery grade lithium carbonate and iron phosphate, the key raw materials for lithium battery. It also produces byproducts such as anode graphite powder, copper scrap, aluminum scrap and anhydrous sodium sulphate. The phase one project is expected to achieve an annual production value of RMB300-400 million (USD41.97-55.96 million) and tax revenue of around RMB20 million (USD2.80 million), helping create more than 100 jobs.
