In accordance with relevant guidelines and implementation measures issued by the State Council, the steelmaking capacity replacement scheme by Anshan Iron and Steel Group Company Limited (Ansteel) has been made public by the Liaoning Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology.

According to the public disclose, Ansteel will build six new 100-ton rotary furnaces with combined steelmaking capacity of 6.9 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) as the company seeks to reduce energy consumption by replacing the six existing 100-ton rotary furnaces with the same capacity.

The company expects to build the new furnaces this August and put them into operation in December 2024.
