BMW Brilliance Automotive launches building of 6th generation power battery project

BMW Brilliance Automotive announced on May 18th that it will start producing pure electric BMW New Century models in 2026. The company now completely launches the building of the supporting BMW 6th power battery project, which has a total investment of RMB10 billion (USD1.42 billion) and a planned area of 240,000 square meters, 5 times the area of existing power battery plant. In addition, BWM Shenyang R&D Center Phase Two Expansion Project goes into formal operation currently, indicating that the company's new energy vehicle localization whole-process development and verification capacities will be improved further.
Integrating R&D, purchasing and production, BWM Shenyang Production Base could produce as high as 830,000 vehicles per year with a total output of more than 5 million vehicles so far, becoming one of BMW's largest production bases and most important new energy vehicle centers worldwide.
