MIIT: China's Li-ion battery production up by over 130% YOY in 2022

On February 23, the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) unveiled operation results of the lithium-ion battery industry in 2022. Statistics showed that in 2022 China's Li-ion battery production was 750GWh, up by over 130% on a year-to-year basis, with energy-storage Li-battery production over 100GWh. In particular, in 2022 China's production of main Li-battery materials including cathode, anode, diaphragm and electrolyte recorded 1.85 million tons, 1.4 million tons, 13 billion square meters and 850,000 tons respectively, up all by over 60% YoY. In 2022, China's power battery installment in new energy vehicles recorded around 295GWh, with energy-storage Li-battery installment up by over 130%.
