Kunming vows to achieve new energy battery production value of over RMB100 billion in 2024

According to the Three-year (2022-2024) Action Plan on Promoting Development of Kunming New Energy Battery Industry issued by Kunming government recently, the city vows to build itself as a national-level new energy battery industrial base and Yunnan provincial-level new energy battery industrial cluster, and by 2024 its new energy battery industry is expected to achieve a gross production value of over RMB100 billion (USD14.58 billion).
According to the Action Plan, Kunming is expected to achieve a gross production value of RMB10 billion (USD1.46 billion), RMB50 billion (USD7.29 billion) and over RMB100 billion (USD14.58 billion) in the year of 2022, 2023 and 2024 respectively, and to form production capacities including no lower than 1 million tons of cathode material, 400,000t of anode materials, 500 million square meters of battery diaphragm, 50,000t of electrolyte, 50,000t of copper foil, 50,000t of aluminum foil, and 40GWh of battery; by the year of 2024, a new energy battery full-life-circle industrial chain is expected to take root in Kunming, local industries of ferrophosphorus materials, high-nickel materials, Mn cathode material, and hydrometallurgical diaphragm to win higher shares in the Chinese market, and the new energy battery industrial cluster basically to come into being in this city.
