China's cathode material production in 2021 up by 100.78% YOY

According to statistics released by the lithium branch of China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association (CNIA), in 2021 China's lithium carbonate production was 298,200t (about 500,000tpy production capacity), up by about 59.47% YOY, and lithium hydroxide production was 190,300t (around 260,000tpy production capacity), up by 105% YOY. In 2021, China used home-made lake brine (60,000t), lepidolite concentrate (60,000t), spodumene (10,000t) and lithium scrap (30,000t) to produce around 160,000t of lithium salt (in lithium carbonate equivalent), and China's lithium raw material dependency ratio on foreign market was around 65%.
According to the lithium branch of CNIA, in 2021 China's cathode material production was 1.11 million tons, up by around 100.78% YOY. In particular, LCO production was 101,000t, LNCMO 440,500t, LFP 459,100t and LMO 111,100t.
And in 2021 China produced a total of 52,000t of LiPF6, a major electrolyte material in China.
