Samsung SDI begins to expand Li-ion battery production capacity of plants in Hungary

It is reported that Samsung SDI began to expand production capacity of its Li-ion batter plant located in Gothic, Hungary.
Samsung SDI already procured manufacturing equipment for its existing plant and the planned second plant which is also located in Gothic, Hungary and will go into construction in the first half of 2020 and into operation in 2021.
Samsung SDI plans to invest KRW12 trillion (about USD994 million) by 2030 in its Hungary-located plants. It expects to raise their production capacity gradually to 18 million battery cells per month, of which about 6 million cells are from No . 1 plant and 12 million cells from No . 2 plant.
