Pakistan to lay down national standards for steel products

PSQCA will convene relevant parties to establish steel industry standards after the Eid al-Adha festival and organize discussions on implementation across the country.
In recent years, with the increase in Pakistan's infrastructure and high-rise residential construction projects, rebar demand is strong. In 2018, Pakistan produced 7 million tons of rebar, and the average growth rate of the industry is over 8%. However, only 10-15% of the 800 steel mills in the country implement the steel industry quality standards in the construction industry and the quality of the products faces enormous challenges. At present, PSQCA has set up a special committee to be responsible for standard revision and implementation.
