Tianqi Lithium starts constructing battery grade lithium carbonate project

It's reported that Tianqi Lithium starts the construction of its 20,000tpy battery grade lithium carbonate project in Suining, Sichuan recently.
The government of Anju district in Suining signed an agreement with Tianqi Lithium on December 14th, 2017. According to the agreement, Tianqi Lithium will settle a plant for its most advanced lithium material in Anju district. The project will become an important part to help Tianqi Lithium realize its production capacity target of 100,00tpy lithium chemical products by 2020.
It's learned that the project will be constructed in two phases. In particular, the first phase project of 20,000tpy battery grade lithium carbonate is expected to be constructed completely and go into production in 2020. The first phase project will produce lithium carbonate, an important raw material to produce lithium ion battery, as well as anhydrous sodium sulfate, lithium-silicon powder, industrial gypsum and other by-products. At the same time as the construction of the first phase project, the work related to the second phase project of 23,000tpy lithium chloride will be conducted. The second phase project will have an investment of RMB800,000,000-1,000,000,000 based on the plan.
