Baotou's exports for rare earth and its downstream products up 8.7% YOY to RMB250m in H1

According to Baotou Customs, the overall import and export value of Baotou reached RMB7.53 billion (USD1.12 billion) during the first six months of 2017, up by 117% YOY, which ranked third among autonomous regions and accounted for 16.5% of the region's total import and export value. Specifically, the total export value was RMB5.53 billion (USD823 million), increasing significantly by 129.2%; while the total import value was RMB2 billion (USD298 million), an increase of 89.2%.
In terms of the structure of the import and export commodities during H1, Baotou area imported RMB1.59 billion (USD237 million) of iron ore and its concentrate, an increase of 186.4% and accounting for 79.5% of the total imports; the cumulative exports of steel were RMB2.54 billion (USD378 million), up by 65.4% and taking up 45.9% of the total; the exports of electromechanical products were RMB1.37 billion (USD204 million), rising by 413.9% and responsible for 24.8% of the total exports; exports of rare earth and its products were RMB250 million (USD37 million), an growth of 8.7% and occupying 4.5% of the total.
