Handan to finish annual task of cutting overcapacity of steel before late September

Known from Handan Development and Reform Commission, Handan has reduced capacity 1.73 million tons of iron, 520,000t of steel since 2017; besides, it has closed down 2 coal mines and reduced capacity of 120,000t of coal; what’s more, it has weeded out 10 sets of thermal power generating unit.
This year, the annual task of cutting overcapacity in Handan is as follows: to reduce capacity of 4.68 million tons of iron, 2 million tons of steel, 1.87 million tons of coal; to eliminate 11 sets of thermal power generating unit of 307,000KW; to shut down 5 coke ovens and reduce capacity of 2.8 million tons of coke. In the face of the difficult task, Handan has been strengthening the responsibility and performing comprehensive policies to complete the task of eliminating overcapacity of iron and steel before the end of September and finish reducing capacity of coal and coke as soon as possible.
