MIIT assigns special tasks of monitoring energy conservation of major industrial projects in 2017

On July 12, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information (“MIIT”) issued the Notice on Special Tasks of Monitoring Energy Conservation of Major Industrial Projects in 2017 (the “Notice”)
According to the requirements of the Notice, enterprises of steel, cement, plate glass should be guided to finish the self-examination report in advance and the results of on-site supervision should be summarized timely. Local authorities should seriously conduct supervision on the energy consumption of electrolytic aluminum and other industries as well as the efficiency improvement of motors and industrial boilers.
. According to the Notice, 5,689 enterprises are within the scope of supervision . Specifically, 448 steel mills and 3,242 cement enterprises will be monitored to see whether they comply with the energy consumption limit and implement step tariff; 138 plate glass enterprises will be monitored to see whether they comply with the energy consumption limit; 913 enterprises will be monitored for the improvement on energy efficiency of motors; 330 enterprises of electrolytic aluminum, synthesis ammonia, coke, calcium carbide, ferroalloy, ceramics and other products will be monitored to see if their energy consumption is within the limits . Special subsidy of RMB37 . 181 million will be allocated.
