State Council commences 4th inspections to focus on coal and steel de-capacity

The State Council issued the Notice on the 4th Inspections recently, stating that the focuses of the work are that to promote supply reform, to expand demand, to promote power conversion, to guarantee and develop people’s livehoods and to prevent major risks.
The core of the supply reform is de-capacity, de-stock, de-leverage, reduce cost and make up for shortage, which will be a long process and an imminent task. Among more than 10 items of this inspections, 3 are related to the de-capacity, including reducing 50 million tons of steel capacity, cancelling coal capacity of larger than 150 million tons and eliminating coal power capacity of more than 50 million kv.
The coal and steel de-capacity was put forward in the Report on the Work of the Government. The State Council indicted in mid-May that the targets of de-capacity are 31 . 7 million tons of steel and 68 . 97 tons of coal, which were completed of 63 . 4% and 46% respectively.
