Shanxi province sees stricter power policy for steel industry

According to the relevant notice, Shanxi province will carry out more stringent differential tariff policy for the steel industry and implement the "ladder-type price" policy.
According to the notice, the "ladder-type price" policy will continue to be implemented for enterprises with restricted and outdated equipment categorized into the “Guiding List of Industrial Adjustment” and power charges will be raised on basis of current catalogue sales power prices or market transaction power prices. Power charges will be raised from RMB0.3/kwh to RMB0.5/kwh for outdated equipment and those for restricted equipment will be maintained at RMB0.1/kwh. Meanwhile, power charges will be in accordance with those for outdated equipment, up by RMB0.5/kwh for steel enterprises underperforming in capacity removal.
In addition to the implementation of differential tariff policy for enterprises, Shanxi will also implement the "ladder-type price" policy for qualified steel enterprises, which means to carry out the "ladder-type price" policy on basis of power consumption for unit product in crude steel production for steel enterprises except for above mentioned ones and three grades are settled down. Based on the "ladder-type price" policy, Shanxi will guarantee the unit energy consumption at normal level for steel industry.
