Guangdong prints 13th Five-Year Plan on Advanced Manufacturing Industry to develop rare earth industry rapidly

The Economic & Information Commission and the Development and Reform Commission of Guangdong Province jointly printed and distributed the 13th Five-Year Plan on Advanced Manufacturing Industry (hereinafter referred to as the Plan) recently to prioritize the development of high-end electronic information manufacturing industry, advanced equipment manufacturing industry, petrochemical industry, advanced light textile manufacturing industry, new material manufacturing industry, biological medicine industry and high performance medical devices industry.
In terms of new material manufacturing industry, the Plan not only mentioned that they shall develop high-end steel material and high performance composite materials, but also noted that they shall develop high performance rare earth fuctional material and speed up the upgrading of rare earth based material to develop strategic material. Focusing on the development in Guangzhou, Foshan, Jiangmen, Zhongshan, Zhaoqing and Shenzhen, they shall develop high-end rare earth magnetic material, hydrogen storage material, rare earth fuctional materials and their downstream matrials, drive the development of upstream high-purity rare earth industry in Qingyuan, Shaoguan, Meizhou, Heyuan and other regions and make Meizhou an industrial base for rare earth new material.
In terms of speeding up the development and conducting pilot demonstration on intelligent manufacturing industry, the Plan mentioned that they shall carry out intelligent application on electronic information, mechanical mode, rare earth high-tech material and other fields in Heyuan.
In terms of key construction projects in 13th Five Year Plan in advanced manufacturing industry, the Plan noted that they shall invest RMB1 billion in the rare earth separation project constructed by NFC Southern Rare Earth (Xinfeng) Co., Ltd. in Shanguan; invest RMB1 billion in the rare earth new material industrial base project constructed by Pingyuan Sanxie Rare Earth Smelting Co., Ltd. in Pingyuan county, Meizhou.
The print and distribution of the Plan points out the direction for Guangdong in creating an industrial system and a base with great competitiveness in the world in advanced manufacturing industry, leading structural adjustment and upgrading of Guangdong and realizing the change from a large province to a promising province in manufacturing industry.
