BEIJING (Asian Metal) 9 Sep 15 - Without demand from downstream industry, Chinese europium oxide 99.99%min prices keep dropping to RMB800-850/kg (USD126-133/kg) by cash payment, down by around RMB50/kg (USD7.9/kg) from those of ten days ago. The rare earth phosphor powder market shows no signs of reviving, and it is hard for suppliers to conclude deals at the moment. Thus, europium oxide 99.99%min price is supposed to slide further in the coming week.
A trader in South China disclosed that europium oxide 99.99%min market showed no signs of improving and the price continued to drop over the past ten days. “Current europium oxide 99.99%min price is around RMB800/kg (USD126/kg) by cash payment, with a decrease of RMB50/kg (USD7.9/kg) from that of ten days ago,” said the trader, who mentioned that she sold around 150kg of the material at RMB850/kg (USD133/kg) by cash payment one week ago. She predicted that europium oxide 99.99%min price will slide further as the rare earth phosphor powder market continues to weaken.
The trader, who usually deals with around 1 ton of europium oxide 99.99%min per month, only sold about 400kg of the material in August, and still holds around 500kg of stocks at present.
A producer in South China claimed that europium oxide price declined continuously over the past ten days. “I quote RMB850/kg (USD133/kg) by cash payment for europium oxide 99.99%min now, down by around RMB50/kg (USD7.9/kg) compared with that of ten days ago,” said the producer, who noted that he is not going to sell the material as the current price is lower than their production cost. He revealed that his latest deals of 500kg of europium oxide 99.99%min was concluded at RMB1,100/kg (USD173/kg) by cash payment in early August. He is pessimistic about the market in the coming week.
The producer, with an annual production capacity of 25 tons of europium oxide 99.99%min, only produces around 1 ton of the material per month this year due to sluggish demand. He halted separating europium oxide 99.99%min since June, and still holds an inventory of 5 tons now.
