Vietnamese HRC price unchanged

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 31 Jul 13 - The current price of HRC SS400 3.0mm*1,250mm*C in Vietnam is still VND12,900,000-13,100,000/t (USD617-626/t, VAT included), the same as that of last week. Traders show that the price turns to be stable because of weak downstream demand in the dull season and stable offers from foreign suppliers.
An HRC trader from Ho Chi Minh City reports to Asian Metal that the price of SS400 3.0mm*1,250mm*C is VND13,000,000/t (USD622/t, VAT included), unchanged over that of the previous week.
"I know that the HRC price in China is hard to increase further for the moment because I received same offers in the past week,” says the source predicting a quiet market considering end users’ wait-and-see attitudes. With a regular importing quantity of around 1,000tpm, the source concluded no deals in past two weeks. He decides to place orders with exporters when there’s sign of price increase in local market.

The source points out that the current CFR quotation he receives for above materials is USD560/t, and only a few suppliers can give such a low price. Though the export price of HRC from China keeps increasing in the month with the markup of USD20/t, he does not conclude any deals because the shipping needs about one and a half month, which means that the local price may decrease when the ordered materials arrive at ports. Considering traders’ cautious attitudes, he foresees a flat price in the short run.
