AOS Stade to resume gallium metal production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 3 Feb 21 - The only gallium metal 99.99%min producer in Germany, Aluminium Oxid Stade GmbH plans to resume gallium metal 99.99%min in early Q3 2021 and expects to produce around 5t a month, a source from the company disclosed to Asian Metal.
The source noted that, "We will resume gallium metal 99.99%min production due to the increasing prices in the past year but we expect to finish the equipment overhaul not before this September considering that we halted the production more than 5 years."
The producer, based on a production capacity of 60tpy of gallium metal 99.99%min, halted the production since 2015 and hold no stocks now.
Currently, the mainstream prices of European gallium metal 99.99%min increase to USD330-340/kg in warehouse Rotterdam, up by USD10/kg from late last week. The producer thinks that the prices would show the uptrend in the coming week given that Chinese producers insist on moving up their prices.
