China Nuclear titanium dioxide announced on the evening of August 19 that the company and the Baiyin Municipal Government of Gansu signed a cooperation agreement on the construction of "CNNC Asian titanium industry production base" on the same day, marking the official start of 500,000tpy titanium dioxide project, and the company moves forward to the goal of producing million tons of titanium dioxide.
According to the announcement, CNNC plans to invest 6 billion yuan (USD0.87 billion) in three phases in Yindong Industrial Park of Baiyin High Tech Zone, on the basis of the existing 100,000tpy titanium dioxide production capacity of Dongfang Titanium, to build a 500,000t comprehensive utilization project with clean production process. The project adopts sulfuric acid process, and is expected to be completed by the end of 2025. After completion, it will form a production capacity of 500,000tpy crude titanium dioxide and 200,000t finished titanium dioxide. It will become the largest titanium dioxide production base in the world. It is expected to achieve an annual sales revenue of 8.04 billion yuan (USD1.16 billion).
In terms of construction progress, first phase of the project with 100,000t capacity has been completed and put into commercial operation, forming an asset scale of 2 billion yuan (USD0.29 billion); the second phase project is planned to start in September this year, with a planned investment of 3 billion yuan (USD0.43 billion), to build a full-automatic, green and clean raw titanium dioxide production line with an annual output of 400,000t, as well as supporting slag yard and public auxiliary works; the third phase project is planned to invest 1 billion yuan (USD0.14 billion) to build 200,000tpy finished titanium dioxide capacity.
