China realizes bulk export of nuclear grade zirconium sponge for the first time

A ship with the first batch of nuclear grade zirconium sponge researched and developed by China Nuclear Energy Industry Corp. under CNNC officially sailed to the VOSTOCHNY Port of Russia recently. This is the first time for China to export nuclear grade zirconium sponge in bulk.
China Nuclear Energy Industry Corp. signed a nuclear grade zirconium sponge bulk export contract in May 2020 with CHMZ, a subsidiary of Russia TVEL, marking that the nuclear grade zirconium sponge researched and developed by CNNC was acknowledged by international customers.
It's expected that this batch of nuclear grade zirconium sponge will be transported to the destination in early September by sea and rail together.
