Malaysia issues temporary bauxite export licenses

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 25 Jan 16 - Last Friday, Malaysia issued temporary bauxite export licenses and 22 exporters obtained Approval Permits successfully, relating to around 3.3 million tones of bauxite . From Janaury 15, all bauxite suppliers suspended exports and waited for new temporary export licenses, so that many ships had to wait in the port.
From last Friday, some bauxite suppliers resumed bauxite exports and a few of ships began leaving the port. According to Asian Metal, there are around 1 . 5-2 million tones of bauxite stocks in Kuantan Port, which will be cleared out in the coming month according to request.
However, after those suppliers cleared stocks in port, they need to apply for new export licenses. Bauxite mining operation may restart three months later . Some Chinese buyers began adding stocks . Low grade bauxite prices get support at around USD25 . 5-26.5/t FOB Malaysia.
