BEIJING (Asian Metal) 13 Jan 16 - The price of rebar witnesses an upward trend in Thailand for the time being as the supply becomes relatively tight caused by factories’ production halts. The current price of rebar TIS SD40 Φ16-35mm is THB12,800-13,300/t (USD352-366/t) VAT excluded, up by around THB1,000/t (USD27.5/t) compared with that in the end of December
A trader in Samut Prakarn reports that his offer for rebar TIS SD40 Φ16-30mm is THB12,800/t (USD352/t) VAT excluded, increasing by around THB800/t (UDSD22/t) compared with that of two weeks ago. The source reveals that his purchasing price is THB12,200/t (USD336/t) VAT excluded, up by THB500/t (USD14/t) compared with that in the end of last December . The source reveals that 2-3 factories had some financial problems with local banks, so they have to stop their production for rebar temporarily . He reveals that 10% of the output for rebar will be reduced in the month and whether these factories will restart production next month has not been informed.
The source reveals currently his inventory has not been influenced yet, which is around 10,000 tons for the time being, the same as that of last month. “Some customers are a little hesitant to accept higher prices but some others can do,” he says, adding that his sales volume is around 200 tons per week at present, a little higher than that of 170-180 tons per week before the price increased .
