BEIJING (Asian Metal) 8 Nov 12 – According to sources, cobalt chloride market is quiet with mainstream price dripping to around RMB48.5-50.5/kg (USD7.69-8.00/kg) at the present time. Since lithium battery industry entering into the sluggish season, it is generally reported that cobalt chloride price is going to decrease in the short run.
A producer in Jiangxi reported to Asian Metal that latest deal they made was at the end of October at about RMB50/kg (USD7.92/kg). “In the past days of November, we did not conclude any transactions,” disclosed the source. He also expressed that they are negotiating with buyers about new orders, but consumers bid as low as RMB47-48/kg (USD7.45-7.61/kg). He thinks that the concluded price will probably be RMB48.5-49.5/kg (USD7.69-7.84/kg) right now.
The source, whose output of cobalt chloride is about 300tpm, believes that lithium battery industry has gone into the off season, so he thinks that cobalt chloride market will keep quiet and the price will probably drop marginally in the near future.
