Huludao Zinc reduces zinc production

Beijing (Asian Metal) 18 Oct 12 – Huludao Zinc Co., Ltd suffered great losses in recent two years due to the weak zinc market in China, and the company reduced zinc ingot and zinc alloy production in October, an official from the company told to Asian Metal.
The source reported that the total zinc production, including zinc ingot and hot-galvanized zinc alloy, drops by 3,000-4,000tpm to about 17,000tpm now. “Zinc prices kept moving at the low level this year, and our production costs were very high, so we decided to reduce production to avoid more losses,” said the source.
The price of SHG zinc ingot with HX brand is RMB1,200-1,300/t (USD190-206/t) higher than the mainstream zinc ingot price currently, and the price of hot-galvanized zinc alloy with the aluminum content of around 1% is RMB400/t (USD63/t) higher than zinc ingot price. They always sell out the products and hold few stocks on hand.
