MIIT (Ministry of Industry and Information Technology) reported on March 24th that they would develop a survey in 2011 to know the real situation of calcium carbide industry and make preparation for further obsolescing on the backward production capacity.
MIIT stated that China had obsolete 3,050,000t of calcium carbide capacity from 2007 to 2010, outperforming the “11th Five-year Plan” task. However, it should be noticeable that domestic capacity climbs up too rapidly driven by downstream industry demand and the problems of low industrial concentration and resource comprehensive utilization are relatively extrusive.
MIIT stated that they would develop a survey on this industry in 2011 and register all of the current producers, collecting the current process units and the device being constructed as well as those will be constructed. MIIT asked various regions to put forward the backward capacity of calcium carbide industry during the “12th Five-year Plan” and the thinking, goal and measures of the adjustment of industrial structure, as well as to study out the plan of obsolescing backward capacity during the “12th Five-year Plan”.
MIIT considered the first four permitted enterprises as the inspection objects and they mainly focused that if there was difference between the production and operation and the industry permitted condition, that is, if the permitted enterprises suitable for announcement maintained the production condition such as technological equipment, environmental protection and energy conservation.
