BEIJING (Asian Metal) 24 Aug 06 – Due to the slow demand, some market participants reported to Asian Metal that they are seeing a slight softening in the antimony markets.
An Indian trader told Asian Metal that they are receiving offers of standard grade two antimony ingot at the price of USD5,350/t CIF Mumbai, and the 99.5% Twinkling Star antimony trioxide price at around USD4,900/t CIF Mumbai.
A European consumer claimed that they bought a batch of Twinkling Star antimony trioxide at USD4,900/t in warehouse Rotterdam, and lower prices for the other brand materials. “Price is dropping a little.” The same material was labeled at around USD5,000/t in warehouse Rotterdam two weeks ago .
The consumers revealed that the suppliers are holding different attitudes toward the antimony market as some are trying to sell the material due to few inquiries while the others are trying to hold for higher prices.
Another European trader thinks the price of antimony is too high for the consumers and a workable price for standard grade two would be USD5,000/t or below.“Of course, the price will not slide to USD5,000/t in the next one and half months, but in the long run, I think the price will drop.”
