Price of casting aluminum bar goes down slightly

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 23 Dec 09 – Producers lowered their offers for casting aluminum bar slightly on Tuesday due to the price decline of spot aluminum ingot in China. Participants revealed that some regular customers keep buying the material at present and the market still moves on steadily this week.
A source from a Jiangsu-based casting aluminum bar plant revealed that they offered RMB17,430/t (USD2,552/t) ex works VAT included for 6063 casting aluminum bar of high quality with the diameter of 120mm processed from A00 aluminum ingot on Tuesday, down from RMB17,470/t (USD2,558/t) on Monday in line with the price decrease of aluminum ingot in the spot market.
With the technology transformation for production lines going on, the plant’s output has increased from 2,000tpm to nearly 2,500tpm so far. “The buying interest from some large consumers does not change much though the market price has increased a lot,” said the said, adding that they hold no stock of casting aluminum bar on hand . Nevertheless, he predicts that the demand will cool down in January with the Spring Festival arriving .
With the normal output of 1,500tpm, a source from a casting aluminum bar plant in Shandong revealed that their sales volume still stays at around 1.200tpm now, on a par with that days ago . “Some customers have reduced or postponed their purchase for casting aluminum bar after seeing the high price . The market remains not very active in a whole,” he said, adding that the deals go slowly.
According to the insider, they offered RMB16,380/t (USD2,398/t) ex works VAT included for 6063 casting aluminum bar with the diameter of 120mm processed from aluminum liquid on Tuesday, down by RMB40/t (USD6/t) compared with that on Monday. “Most products are consumed by local aluminum sections producers . They complained to us that they hold limited orders to carry out . Therefore, they are unwilling to hold stocks of casting aluminum bar on hand now,” he said, adding that the market saw no improvement in recent days.
