BEIJING (Asian Metal) 21 Jul 06 – Major tungsten concentrate plant halted in Chenzhou, Hunan province, due to the heavy rainfall and serious floods caused by the tropical storm Bilis since late last week.
“We halted the tungsten concentrate production due to the serious floods,” said a sales executive from a Chenzhou-based plant. “If the resettlement work goes off smoothly, we will put back on production in mid-August.”
According to the source, the smelter raised its synthetic sheelite 65% prices to RMB105,000/t (USD204/t) early this week, up by RMB2,000/t (USD3.9/mtu) . “We have no stocks at hand at the moment, but consumers have accepted our new quotation . ”
Based on the production capacity of 150tpm of synthetic sheelite, the smelter only delivers its tungsten concentrate to stable consumers by long-termed contracts.
