BEIJING (Asian Metal) 23 Jun 06 - Indium market may see improvements soon, as Japanese consumers are a bit more active than previous weeks, an official from a Japan-based trading company unveiled to Asian Metal.
"More clients come to us for indium while they purchased from elsewhere during previous weeks, because they could purchase at lower prices than our offers," said the source.
Japanese clients of the company have placed orders of 2t of indium 99.99%min, to be delivered before July 1st, from which the export rebate of Chinese indium may reduce or abolish. According to the source, the concluded price is around USD700-730/kg .
The source believes that the market may start to rebound, because Japanese are making steps towards the market, which can be proved from the increasing amount of their orders placed.
Besides, Japanese do not lay out as many long-term contracts this year as last year. Take the company for example, its long-term contract supplied 3tpm of indium to Japanese clients in 2005, while the amount cuts down to 1tpm in 2006 . Therefore, the source judged that Japanese will purchase more from the free market and the price may skyrocket in the coming months.
Usually, the price of indium rebounds from USD700/kg, seen from previous price ups and downs, so the source holds that this time will be no exception and that it is time for the price to rebound.
