BEIJING (Asian Metal) 21 Jun 06 - Chinese indium price has dropped below USD700/kg this week, with some participants reporting that some transaction closed at USD680/kg for 300kg of indium 99.99%min
Before the conclusion at USD680/kg, the price of indium 99.99%min was around USD700-720/kg and most Chinese suppliers hoped that buyers would bear sellers' profit losses totally or partly. However, the low price of USD680/kg seems to break most Chinese suppliers' dream .
Some participants predict that the price may continue to slide. However, other participants think otherwise, believing that most of suppliers make no profits to sell at current price, so the price will not keep dropping but rebound soon .
Few inquiries from the international market, especially from Japanese, is considered to be the key factor for the incessant price drop. Although Japanese consumers' demand increases this year, compared to last year, the stockpiles and increased indium recycling rate help them reduce purchases from the free market . Therefore, they are not pressed to purchase indium at any price, but at low and satisfactory prices.
