BEIJING (Asian Metal) 7 Apr 06 -- With the expectation of trader hitting a disappointing market, sources reported the price of indium went down again to around USD840-880/kg because of a quiet market.
A European trader, who puts his price at around USD850/kg down from previous USD900/kg, said the price fall is because consumers had purchased more than they wanted last months leaving this month crawling with few consumers in the market, and they are not ready to pay high prices.
“We are not seeing much demand as we had expected last month,” said another European trader. “But I think reducing the price will not bring consumers back even if it is selling at around USD700/kg, they can only buy when they need material.”
Europan market players feel there are a lot of indium in the market now, especially those bought when the price was going up and traders are eager to push materials out that is why some of them are selling below USD900/kg.
Meanwhile, a South Korean source thinks the price will reach around USD800/kg before end of the month because they are seeing the downfall of the material. According to him, deals and inquiries are not much and for some traders to sell, their prices have to go down. He puts his price at around USD860-870/kg.
