BEIJING (Asian Metal) 14 Mar 06 – Influenced by the price decrease of tungsten concentrate in China, APT prices fell to RMB190,000/t (USD267/mtu) ex works this week, compared to RMB195,000/t (USD274/mtu) ex works last week.
However, Chinese producers insist on the export price of USD280/mtu FOB, which is difficult for western buyers to accept under the sliding trend.
“We reduced the APT price to RMB188,000-190,000/t (USD264-267/mtu) ex works yesterday,” said an official of a Jiangxi-based smelter on Monday, which quoted its APT at RMB195,000/t (USD274/mtu) ex week last week.
According to the source, the sheelite in Hunan fell to around RMB123,000/t (USD235/mtu) d.d . p . this week.
The smelter purchased a batch of tungsten concentrate at RMB126,000/t (USD241/mtu) d.d . p . from Hunan early this month.
A tungsten smelter in Sichuan yesterday reported to Asian Metal that the smelter just purchased a batch of APT at RMB185,000/t (USD260/mtu) ex works from a long-termed supplier based-in Hunan province.
