Sintered NdFeB N35 market stable

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 8 Oct 08 - Sintered NdFeB N35 market is stable with prices of RMB82-83/kg (USD12.1-12.2/kg), the same as that before the National Day holidays.
A source from a South China-based plant reported that NdFeB N30-38 prices remain at RMB80-85/kg (USD11.8-12.5/kg) at present. "NdFeB prices may go up again following the increasing price of PrNd mischmetal, but the markup will be limited," said the source, revealing that some PrNd mischmetal smelters have raised their prices to RMB143,000-144,000/t (USD21,029-21,176/t) from RMB141,000-142,000/t (USD20,735-20,882/t).
"We just purchased two tons of PrNd mischmetal at RMB141,000/t (USD20,735/t) before the National holidays, and some smelters now offer RMB145,000/t for prompt delivery," added the source.
The plant has raised its NdFeB N35 price to RMB82-83/kg (USD12.1-12.2/kg) from RMB79-80/kg (USD11.6-11.8/kg) a fortnight ago, after PrNd mischmetal price rose to RMB140,000/t (USD20,588/t) from RMB138,000/t (USD20,294/t).
A source from another plant in South China confirmed that NdFeB N35 price is around RMB82/kg (USD12.1/kg). "Although PrNd mischmetal price is on the rise, it is difficult to raise NdFeB prices because of the ample supply," said the source, anticipating that PrNd mischmetal price may rise to RMB145,000/t (USD21,324/t) in the coming week.
Commenting on the trend, the source said many NdFeB magnets plants will get in stocks of PrNd mischmetal for the coming two months, which could make PrNd mischmetal price rise again, but low-performance NdFeB magnets prices may not move up accordingly due to the weak demand.
