Chinese APT prices up 3% this week

BEIJIGN (Asian Metal) 14 Dec 05 – China's APT prices rose 3 per cent this week following the increase of price two weeks ago, close sources reported yesterday.
Consumers reported a price of RMB170,000/t (USD238/mtu) in domestic market, compared to RMB165,000/t (USD231/mtu) last week. A Chinese consumers said the smelter just purchased a batch of APT at RMB172,000/t (USD241/mtu) ex works .
Meanwhile, producers reported to Asian Metal that APT export quotation is still in limited due to the speculation of the remove of 8 per cent rebate next year.
A sales official of a Chinese smelter said, “The price of APT has been raised to RMB170,000/t [USD238/mtu] ex works because of the shortage of tungsten concentrate.” The price of the concentrate is at RMB110,000/t (USD210/mtu) at the moment, rose 4 . 8 per cent early December .
“Because of the rebate , we have stopped quotation since last week,” said the source. The smelter now delivers the material at USD255/mtu FOB in accordance with contract signed before.
A Chinese consumer told Asian Metal that the concluded price of APT reached as high as RMB174,000/t (USD244/mtu) delivered to plant. “In order to complete the contract, we have to purchase the raw material now,” he said.
