Alcoa Corporation has reported its operational results for the third quarter of 2026.
Production: Alumina production increased 11 percent sequentially to 2.5 million metric tons, primarily due to improved stability at the Pinjarra refinery in Australia. In the Aluminum segment, production rose 2 percent sequentially to 649,000 metric tons, mainly driven by capacity restarts completed in the second quarter of 2026 and the completion of the Alumar smelter restart in the third quarter of 2026.
Shipments: In the Alumina segment, third-party shipments of alumina increased 2 percent sequentially, primarily due to higher production. In Aluminum, total shipments decreased 5 percent sequentially, following elevated second-quarter 2026 shipment volumes associated with first-quarter inventory repositioning.
Alcoa reaffirmed its 2026 Alumina segment production and shipment projections of 9.5 to 9.6 million metric tons and 11.5 to 11.6 million metric tons, respectively. The difference between production and shipments reflects trading volumes and externally sourced alumina to fulfill customer contracts.
Alcoa also reaffirmed its 2026 Aluminum segment production and shipment projections of 2.4 to 2.6 million metric tons and 2.6 to 2.8 million metric tons, respectively.
