Jindal Ferrous Limited (JFL) has commissioned its first integrated steel plant in Jajpur, Odisha, with an investment of Rs 5,000 crore.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the complex, which is centred on a steel melt shop capable of producing 2.2 million tons of carbon steel slabs and hot-rolled coils annually.
Equipped with Level 2 automation, the integrated plant features a blast furnace, basic oxygen furnace, sinter plant and casting operations. JFL partnered with Japan's JFE Steel for technical support to optimise production processes and quality.
In addition, the plant utilises process gases, recycles metallurgical waste back into sintering operations, and operates under a zero-discharge design.
