New Zealand's Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs Cameron Brewer decided on October 5, 2026, not to impose safeguard measures on imported aluminum extrusions, officially ending the trade investigation launched on May 28, 2026.
The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) found that while imports caused injury to the domestic industry, the impact did not meet the serious injury threshold required under the Trade (Safeguard Measures) Act 2014.
The investigation covered imports from all countries of origin except Australia and Singapore, including hollow profiles, bars, rods and other alloy shapes. The subject goods fall under HS codes 7604.21.00 00B and 7604.29.09 00F.
