Rio Tinto has reported a 2% decrease in its latest aluminium production figures.
Third-quarter output reached 842,000 tonnes, a 2% decline from the same period a year earlier.
The company said the planned shutdown of the Arvida smelter was offset by stronger performance at its other aluminium smelters.
Its Kitimat facility in British Columbia, Canada, produced more than the previous year, as the smelter ran at higher pot and amperage levels, supported by improved underlying performance and reservoir levels.
Its Boyne smelter in Queensland, Australia, also boosted output, reflecting greater operating stability and higher production.
Its AP60 smelter in Quebec, Canada, continued to ramp up.
