Chery Automobile and Shougang Group held the launch ceremony for automotive components made from 55% recycled steel at Chery Automobile's Longshan Test Center on October 13. Co-developed by Chery Automobile and Shougang Group, the 55% recycled steel marks an industry-first and has achieved formal commercial application, advancing high-recycled-content automotive steel from material R&D to mass production.
Each tonne of recycled steel used cuts carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 1.2 tonnes and reduces iron ore consumption by around 1.6 tonnes, facilitating a closed-loop cycle for automotive steel.
The 55% recycled steel has passed validation. It can be deployed in all critical parts including body panels and structural components while meeting safety and quality requirements.
